We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious News & Media Manager to lead our high-performing media team for 11 months to cover maternity leave.

This is an important time for Crisis and for the opportunity to accelerate an end to homelessness in Great Britain. The pandemic has highlighted the importance of a safe and secure home for everyone. Now, our challenge is to ensure that ending homelessness is on the nation’s agenda as we look to the future. Continuing to secure a high media and public profile for the issue of homelessness and for Crisis’ solutions will be one of the key tasks for this role.

About the role
As News & Media Manager, you’ll oversee the Media team to design and implement ambitious strategies for raising awareness of Crisis and of the issue of homelessness, changing public perceptions, and supporting our key policy campaigns and fundraising initiatives – including the iconic Crisis at Christmas appeal. You’ll provide expert leadership and management to the Media team, and work closely with colleagues within Marketing & Communications and across the organisation to ensure an integrated and audience-focused approach to all communications activities. In this key role, you’ll advise and support senior colleagues and spokespeople on messaging and reputational issues.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have experience of running a busy press office and building excellent relationships with journalists to secure high profile coverage. You’ll have a strong news sense and thorough understanding of the needs of the UK media which will enable you to confidently provide strategic advice to teams and colleagues across the organisation. You’ll be able to lead and motivate a team to deliver great results in a fast-paced environment.
